Healthy Body, Healthy Mind Week 17th June – 21st June 2019
How we feel about ourselves and others influences everything we do and it has a huge impact on learning and success in life.
Children participated in our 'walk-to-school' week where we saw more children walking or scooting to school instead of using the car or public transport, which was fantastic. The children also learnt how to stay safe when crossing the roads and the importance of road safety, the highlight of the children’s day was our special visitor - 'Deborah the Zebra'.
Children took part in lots of different activities that promote...
- Physical fitness
- Emotional well-being and mental health
- Exercise and nutrition
- Behaviour, confidence and self-esteem
- Positive mind set
The aim was that children will develop their knowledge, skills and understanding to make healthy lifestyle choices that they need now and that will prepare them for the future.
Some of the activities planned were: whole school daily mile, dance workshop, scooter slalom, bicycle ride, team-building activities & a 'NED's Mindset Mission' positive mindset show. The staff also had their own program of events that consist of healthy juices, massages, health checks, forest yoga and team building.
Children wore their own sports clothes to school for the week, which made it more appropriate to access a variety of sporting activities.
Children were encouraged to bring in healthy packed lunches.
Children took part in the NED mindset show. NED stands for: never give up, encourage others, do your best.
Children learnt the Power of Yet, how to spark courage in others and how to keep learning and growing, even when we think we already know something.
